Day 9 - Sekigahara Battlefield
On Saturday we had our first day at Sekigahara. First we visited the museum where we met the local guide and we then walked across some of the northern part of the battlefield.

It was a very wet, cloudy day so views were limited.

Festival stalls were being set up near the museum and at the upper festival area near Ishida Mitsunari's camp.

On the way back to Nagahama we visited Ogaki Castle which had been rebuilt in concrete after its destruction during WWII.
Ashigaru with yari (spear)

We were greeted by this Ashigaru with a very long yari (spear).

Near the museum is the location of Tokugawa Ieyasu's final position at the end of the battle.
This is where he viewed the heads of the fallen leaders of the defeated Western forces.

These fields saw much of the fiercest fighting at the end of the battle.
